Advertising Rules & Requirements
REAL ESTATE SIGN REQUIREMENTS:
- The Michigan Occupational Code (state license law) requires that – All advertisements to buy, sell, exchange, rent, lease, or mortgage real estate or business opportunities shall include the broker’s name as licensed and the broker’s telephone number or street address. That rule was expanded in January 2018 to state that the individual licensee’s name or team name cannot be in a larger type size than the name of the employing broker. (The Michigan Occupational Code state license law)
- REALTORS® shall not advertise nor permit any person employed by or affiliated with them to advertise real estate services or listed property in any medium (e.g., electronically, print, radio, television, etc.) without disclosing the name of that REALTORS®’s firm in a reasonable and readily apparent manner. You are welcome, but not obligated by GRAR, to include the REALTOR® and/or Equal Housing logos. GRAR doesn’t have policy related to placement of signs, but we do encourage everyone to abide by local sign ordinances. As always, please consult your broker to determine if there are internal company policies related to signage (Article 12 of the Code of Ethics)
