Con-Ed Q&A

Q: What is a licensing year?

A: A licensing year is specific to the individual, based upon the date on which they were licensed. In example, for a license that expires Sept 2, 2025, a licensing year would be Sept 2-Sept 1.

Q: What are the con ed requirements?

A: 18 total hours during the licensing cycle.
6 of these 18 hours have to be Legal CE.
Each licensing year, you must complete at minimum 2 hours of Legal CE credit.

3 of these 18 hours have to be Fair Housing CE.
Each licensing year, you must complete at minimum 1 hour of Fair Housing CE credit.

The remaining 9 standard hours may be completed at any time during your license cycle and may be Electives and/or a combination of Electives and any additional Legal and Fair Housing credits (after minimum requirements for each are met)

Q: I renewed my license on November 1, 2021 and my new license expires in 2025. That’s longer than three years! What is the first year of my licensing cycle considered to be?

A: With the change to licensing cycles now being specific to the individual (rather than being the same for all) no license was issued for less than three years. So, let’s say a license was originally issued on Sept 2. LARA set the expiration date to Sept 2, 2025 (as Sept 2, 2024 would have been less than 3 years). The agent would have until 09.01.23 to complete their 1st year con ed requirements. The 2nd year requirements would be due by 09.01.24, and the total of 18 hours due by 09.01.25.

Q: What happens if I take more than two legal CE credits in the same licensing year?

A: Legal credit does not carry from one licensing year to the next. If you take more than two hours of legal CE in the same licensing year, the remaining credit will count toward standard credit.

Q: How can I find online classes?

A: Search the CE Marketplace for ‘on-demand’ options under ‘class availability’.

A: Licensing cycles, and in turn, con ed deadlines are now specific to the individual rather than being the same for all. This date is based on your original date (mm/dd) of licensure.

Q: Can GRAR tell me the number of CE hours I have completed?

A: Unfortunately, GRAR is not able to see your CE record- but the good news is, you can! Please visit the CE Marketplace.
