Is it ok for a seller to only allow showings for pre-approved buyers?

Yes. The listing agent would use the Other Provisions section of the Listing Agreement to indicate that the seller is requiring a pre-approval letter or proof of funds (sensitive information should be redacted) in order to show the property. This information would be disclosed to cooperating brokers via the Agent Remarks field on the MLS and/or ShowingTime.
