What is a stigmatized property? Does that status need to be disclosed on the MLS?

According to the National Association of REALTORS, a stigmatized property is a property that has been psychologically impacted by an event which occurred or was suspected to have occurred in the property. Such an event could be a violent crime, suicide, perceived haunting, etc. Some states have laws that require disclosure of stigmatized properties. Michigan is not one of them. Meaning, the information doesn’t have to be disclosed on the MLS or volunteered in conversation, but an agent must answer honestly if asked.
