When choosing a real estate agent, experience matters—but so does finding someone who truly understands people. For Allison, real estate has always been about more than buying and selling homes. It’s about building relationships, providing guidance, and helping clients navigate some of life’s biggest milestones with confidence.
As a West Michigan native, Allison has a deep appreciation for everything the area has to offer. After spending five years in Lansing attending Michigan State University, she ultimately returned home and quickly realized that Grand Rapids was exactly where she wanted to build both her life and career.
West Michigan offers a unique balance that Allison loves sharing with clients. The region combines the energy and opportunities of a growing city with the comfort and sense of community found in surrounding small towns. Residents can enjoy quieter neighborhoods and still remain close to everything Grand Rapids has to offer.
From Education to Real Estate
Before beginning her career in real estate, Allison worked as a special education teacher, teaching sixth and eighth grade students. She loved the opportunity to support and advocate for her students while helping them grow and succeed.
Over time, however, the demands of education extended far beyond the classroom. Between evenings, weekends, and balancing additional work throughout the year, she began thinking about a career that would offer both flexibility and the opportunity to continue helping people in meaningful ways.
Real estate was already familiar to her. Her mom had worked in the industry for years, giving Allison a firsthand look at the business and often involving her in different aspects of the process. Going through her own home buying experience further increased her interest and showed her how impactful the right agent could be.
In 2017, Allison earned her real estate license while continuing to teach and gradually transitioned into real estate full time.
Today, many of the skills she developed as an educator remain central to how she serves her clients.
A Relationship-First Approach to Real Estate
One of Allison’s greatest strengths is the level of care and attention she brings to every client relationship.
She believes real estate should feel personal and intentionally limits the number of clients she works with at one time so each person receives the support, communication, and attention they deserve.
Her clients are never treated like transactions.
Allison becomes deeply invested in helping people achieve their goals and creating an experience that feels supportive from beginning to end. Many of her client relationships continue well after closing day, often turning into lasting friendships and ongoing connections with families she has helped over the years.
That people-first mindset continues to shape her business and the way she approaches every transaction.
Helping First-Time Buyers Feel Prepared
Although Allison works with a variety of clients today, first-time home buyers remain one of her favorite groups to work with.
Her background in education naturally carries over into real estate, allowing her to break down each step of the process and help clients feel informed and confident.
She encourages buyers to begin the process earlier than they think they need to.
Many people are surprised to learn how long buying a home can take. Between connecting with a lender, becoming pre-approved, searching for homes, submitting offers, and completing the closing process, purchasing a home often requires more planning than expected.
Starting conversations early gives buyers time to prepare and creates opportunities to move confidently when the right home becomes available.
Helping clients experience the excitement of buying their first home—and being part of that milestone—is one of the most rewarding parts of her work.
Finding Balance and Staying Connected
Real estate provides flexibility, but it also requires intentional balance.
Allison believes one of the keys to long-term success is understanding how much can realistically be taken on while still providing an exceptional client experience.
Outside of real estate, she enjoys spending time with family, reading, supporting Michigan State athletics, and staying involved in her community. She serves as chair of fundraising for her children’s preschool and has also contributed to community service initiatives through her daughter’s elementary school.
