From Mountain Views to Michigan Lakes: Meghan’s Journey to West Michigan
Meghan was born in Missouri and grew up in Lakewood, Colorado, where the Rocky Mountains were her familiar backdrop. In 2009, she and her family made the pivotal decision to trade mountain ranges for the vast freshwater of the Great Lakes, settling in West Michigan.
“We were drawn to West Michigan for many reasons,” Meghan explains. “The affordable cost of living, fantastic schools, endless outdoor exploration, lively music venues, and so much more.” The region’s growth has only deepened her appreciation. “Since moving here, Grand Rapids and the surrounding areas have grown tremendously. It’s exciting to watch this region evolve into such a thriving and desirable place to live.” This dynamic growth, coupled with the unique access to natural beauty and a strong community, makes West Michigan an ideal place for homeowners.
A Career Built on Service and Home Fascination
Meghan’s professional path has always centered on helping and protecting others. She began her career in insurance and accounting, driven by a desire to ensure people were “protected and treated fairly.” After nearly two decades, she felt called to a new chapter. “Growing up, my family moved frequently, and I was always fascinated by the different styles and layouts of homes,” she shares, noting her personal love for farmhouse style. Real estate proved to be the perfect match. “It became the perfect blend of my desire to serve others and my interest in the world of homes. It felt like a natural next chapter, and I’ve been grateful for the opportunity to help clients navigate such an important moment in their lives.”
Experience and Expertise That Pays Off
While Meghan officially became a Michigan-licensed realtor in 2018, her practical experience in the nuts and bolts of the industry is what truly sets her apart. She began working as a transaction coordinator (TC) in 2019, a role she expanded last year to offer TC services to all 616 Realty agents. This background is a massive advantage for her clients. “What sets me apart is my dedication and determination to truly help people,” Meghan states. “With my background as a transaction coordinator and experience in over 600 closings, I bring a deeper level of knowledge, organization, and problem-solving to the table.” This extensive experience translates into strong, informed relationships within the industry—giving her clients the benefit of solid connections and a smoother, more informed real estate experience in the competitive Grand Rapids housing market.
Life Outside the Closing Table
When she’s not immersed in work, Meghan values quality time. She loves spending time “up North” with her husband and her two daughters or traveling whenever they can. Her favorite ways to relax and recharge include golfing, snowboarding, gardening, reading, rock hunting, and puzzling. Meghan is also excited about her community involvement, noting, “I’m looking forward to getting more involved in the community in 2026, but I’m most excited to volunteer with Meals on Wheels this month!” Maintaining balance in a fast-paced market is key, so Meghan focuses on setting intentional boundaries, like stepping away from her phone in the evenings, and proactively managing her workload by bringing on an assistant TC during peak times to ensure consistent, high-quality service.
Meghan’s Top Advice for Buyers and Sellers
For anyone entering the market, Meghan offers sound advice: Be informed, patient, and prepared. She encourages clients to take the time to understand the process, ask questions, and lean on their agent for guidance. For buyers, she advises knowing what is most important in a home and being realistic about the budget. For sellers, presentation and preparation can make a huge difference, so the focus should be on making the home shine for potential buyers. “Above all,” she advises, “stay patient and trust the process—big decisions take time, but the outcome is worth it.”
The Heart of 616 Realty
When asked about her favorite part of working with 616 Realty, Meghan’s answer is immediate: The People. “Everyone here is genuine and supportive, and I truly enjoy connecting with Scot, all the staff, and every agent in the office,” she says. “It’s an environment where collaboration, professionalism, and REAL relationships come together, making it a great place to grow.”
